David Peikon: Stories from a Life in Paint

PRESS RELEASE

PRESS RELEASE: David Peikon: Stories from a Life in Paint, Jan 16 - Feb 9, 2020

Cavalier Gallery is pleased to present Stories from a Life in Paint, an exhibition of nearly 40 recent paintings by Contemporary Realist David Peikon. The exhibition will be on view at Cavalier Gallery in New York, NY from January 16th to February 9th

After spending 15 years in the commercial printing industry and a career as vice president of sales at Federal Business Products in New York, Peikon left the corporate world to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a painter. He has since spent over 20 years as a professional artist. Peikon is best known for his serene landscapes with subjects ranging from his native Long Island to the eastern shores of Maryland and the Hudson Valley, following in the footsteps of celebrated landscape painters such as Edward Hopper, Thomas Cole, and John Singer Sargent.

After a rotator injury on his right arm, Peikon’s passion and career as an artist was nearly cut short. Despite the setback, Peikon taught himself to paint with his left hand and continues to paint only with that hand today.

While best known for the painterly naturalism of his landscapes, Peikon has also completed many prestigious portrait commissions, among them are Salvatore Ferragamo, David H. Koch, Elizabeth Blackburn, and the Presidents of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. His work hangs in private and corporate collections around the world. He has been featured in numerous publications including American Artist Magazine and The NY Times. Peikon currently teaches at the Art League of Long Island.
