PRESS RELEASE: Message in a Bottle [Nantucket, MA], Jul 3 - Jul 21, 2014

Cavalier Gallery presents, Message in a Bottle, a special exhibition guest curated by Lori Zimmer of Art Nerd New York. This group show will be exhibited in our Nantucket gallery from July 3rd to July 21st, with an opening reception on Thursday, July 3rd from 5-7pm. Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Art Nerd, Lori Zimmer brings her curatorial eye to explore this romantic tradition of hoping for the sea and destiny to deliver a love letter to one’s beloved. Transforming part of the gallery into a maritime ship chandlery, visitors will view modern “messages in bottles,” created by contemporary artists in their unique styles. The show focuses on Brooklyn-based Beau Stanton and several of his contemporaries to bring this nostalgic activity to our age. A previous version of Message in a Bottle was presented at SCOPE Miami art fair to a captivated crowd. Each artist has created their own message in various mediums, just waiting for someone to let them out of their container. The whole exhibition is an intriguing experience, as we consider the messages and how they relate to our own emotions, whether they are bottled up inside or out in the open.  Beau Stanton is joined by Logan Hicks, Allison Sommers, Elizabeth Winnel, Jack Bratman, Jud Bergeron, Jon Burgerman, Vahge, Molly Crabapple, Ewelina Koszykowska, Debranne Cingari, Ofelia Marquez, and Shark Toof.
