Cavalier Ebanks Galleries celebrates 30 years on Greenwich Avenue 

Open house event Saturday, November 9, 2:00–4:00 pm, at 175 Greenwich Avenue

November 5, 2024, Greenwich, CT—Cavalier Ebanks Galleries is pleased to announce a special celebration in honor of our thirtieth year on Greenwich Avenue. Established in 1986 in downtown Stamford, Connecticut, Ronald Cavalier, Jr. moved his main gallery to neighboring Greenwich in 1994 where it has become a mainstay on the Avenue. With additional galleries in Nantucket, New York City, and Palm Beach, Cavalier Galleries remains proud to call Connecticut home.

Join us at 175 Greenwich Avenue on Saturday, November 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm for refreshments, tours of our three-floor exhibition space, and a first look at the 30th Anniversary Greenwich Exhibition, which features new works by gallery artists. The gallery is open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and visitors will receive a copy of our annual print catalogue.

Downtown Stamford summer sculpture exhibition “ArtNORMOUS” on view now through September 2024

The solo exhibition at 530 West 24^th Street features works from Wilkes’ signature Day to Night series, including captivating portraits of New York City, breathtaking panoramas of America’s National Parks, and iconic locations from around the world. An opening reception with Stephen Wilkes will be held on Thursday, May 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

As we sit down with McCurry for an exclusive interview, we delve into the essence of his latest photographic release and the motivation behind it, exploring the stories behind his most captivating images and his enduring commitment to capturing the beauty and complexity of our shared humanity.

A posthumous release from the famed photographer Ruth Orkin casts a female gaze on subjects both ordinary and iconic.

The solo exhibition at 530 West 24^th Street features more than 25 sculptures spanning the past decade of the artist’s oeuvre. An opening reception with Bjørn Okholm Skaarup will be held on Thursday, April 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Steve McCurry, whose evocative portfolio vividly depicts the richness and resilience of humanity, clearly stands among those legendary few whose work transcends time and culture.

Steve McCurry is best known for his haunting portrait of Sharbat Gula, the child whose image he captured in a Pakistan refugee camp amid the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. When National Geographic put “Afghan Girl” on its cover in 1985, McCurry didn’t even know her name. But those piercing green eyes stayed with him.
